25 November. “The issue only interests politicians”

On 20 November 2024, RTP Notícias published a piece by Antena 1 featuring the analysis of Filipa Raimundo, professor of Political Science at Iscte and author of the book “Ditadura e Democracia”, on the official commemorations of 25 November.

According to the researcher, the anniversary does not mobilise society – neither ordinary citizens nor academia – and is mainly of interest to the political world. She associates this interest with right-wing parties, which, in her view, seek to appropriate part of the memory of democratic Portugal.
