Results of the CIES e-Working Papers Awards 2025 announced

As part of the celebrations of CIES-Iscte’s 40th anniversary, the winners of the 2025 edition of the CIES e-Working Papers Award have been selected. The initiative aims to recognise research produced by the Centre’s PhD students and to increase the scientific visibility of the doctoral programmes hosted by CIES.
The jury, made up of the members of the CIES e-WP Editorial Board, assessed the ten eligible submissions and selected the following papers for their relevance and originality, methodological rigour and the quality of their scientific contributions:
- 1st Prize: Sara Franco da Silva, Uma análise territorial do trabalho digno: desigualdades nos municípios portugueses (PhD in Sociology);
- 2nd Prize (ex aequo): Flávia Rodrigues Tristão Camello, Poucos influenciam muitos: Assimetria digital e radicalização política (PhD in Communication Sciences);
- 2nd Prize (ex aequo): Márcia Pinheiro, Gestão de projetos TI na Administração Pública Portuguesa: Análise Baseada na Metodologia PM² (PhD in Public Administration).
Flávia Rodrigues Tristão Camello’s paper, which examines the role of digital elites and the asymmetry of visibility on online platforms in processes of political polarisation and radicalisation, speaks directly to the topics followed by the Observatory of Democracy and Political Representation.
The award-winning papers, as well as the other submissions, will be published in the CIES e-Working Papers series. The awards were presented on 12 December 2025 at the Research Forum celebrating the Centre’s 40th anniversary.
