Democracy Report 2024 launched in Portuguese

The V-Dem Democracy Report 2024 is now available in Portuguese. The publication is a joint initiative of the V-Dem Southern Europe Regional Centre and CEI-Iscte, and it carries special significance as it coincides with the 50th anniversary of the 1974 Portuguese Revolution – the starting point of the third wave of democratisation, which transformed the political landscape in Portugal and in many other countries.

The report provides a detailed analysis of the current state of democracy worldwide, with particular attention to democratic developments in Portuguese-speaking countries. The Portuguese translation aims to reach a wider audience, helping to disseminate knowledge and raise awareness of the challenges and advances in democratic governance.

At a time when many countries are experiencing democratic backsliding, the report is a key tool for academics, policymakers and citizens seeking to understand and strengthen democracy in their communities.
