ODRP hosts Transparencia Electoral for briefing on Portuguese legislative elections

On Thursday, May 15, the ODRP and Political Representation held a briefing session on the rules, situation and specificities of the Portuguese legislative elections, aimed at the mission of the Transparencia Electoral organization, which was present in the country to monitor the elections held last Sunday, May 18.
Transparencia Electoral, based in Argentina and the United States, is a non-partisan and independent organization that works to defend representative democracy and citizens’ political rights, through electoral observation missions, civic and electoral education actions, and the production of reports and studies on electoral processes.
With the participation of professors Guya Accornero (CIES-Iscte), Marco Lisi (NOVA FCSH), Filipa Raimundo (CIES-Iscte) and Viriato Queiroga (CIES-Iscte), the international mission was able to answer a number of questions, namely about: the differences in electoral rules compared to other countries; the political issues at stake in this electoral process; the influence of online social networks; the day of reflection; censure motions; and early voting.
