On 31 July 2024, the newspaper P\u00fablico published an opinion piece by Pedro Ad\u00e3o e Silva, a professor at Iscte, on the structural threat that the normalisation of the radical right poses to democracies.<\/p>\n

Starting from Donald Trump\u2019s claim that, if elected, his supporters would not have to vote again, the author argues that the social appeal of liberal democracy tends to be overestimated and that there is an electoral path that can be taken by rejecting democracy itself \u2013 a risk that, he stresses, is not limited to the United States and also concerns Portugal.<\/p>\n
