On Monday 30 October 2023, the PhD in Political Science at Iscte – Instituto Universit\u00e1rio de Lisboa, returns to the cycle of doctoral debates for the 2023\/2024 academic year, this time with the conference “The Spanish general election in July 2023: results and political consequences”, which will debate the results and consequences associated with the Spanish general election, held on 23 July 2023.<\/p>\n
With the participation of Leonardo S\u00e1nchez-Ferrer, Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Burgos (Spain), the Spanish general elections 2023 will be analyzed by comparing them with the results of the 2019 elections, framing them within the evolution of the party system since 2015. It will also explain the main voting factors such as gender, age, social class, religiosity or ideology and the political impact of the results, as well as the main uncertainties that lie ahead for the Spanish political system.<\/p>\n
Leonardo S\u00e1nchez-Ferrer is Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Burgos, holds a PhD in Political Science from the Autonomous University of Madrid and the Juan March Institute in Madrid and has published several books and articles on public education policies, political leadership, ideological congruence between parties and citizens and the process of elite polarization in Western societies. He is a member of the Spanish team of the Comparative Candidate Survey project and actively participated in the Spanish surveys of waves II and III, with results published in the book \u201cPoliticians in Hard Times.
