"Stop Border Violence - Strategic use of European citizenship, between theories and practices" workshop
On Tuesday, November 28, the “Stop Border Violence – Strategic use of European citizenship, between theories and practices” workshop will be held at the Palácio Galveias Library in Lisbon, with free admission and online streaming via ZOOM (bit.ly/BorderViolence).
Debating European Citizens Initiative “Stop Border Violence” and with the participation of activists and academics, the event will provide theoretical and methodological reflections on civil society initiatives and political contestation; share tools and synergies between researchers, activists and professionals; and present citizen initiatives to fight against border violence and for housing for all.
“In Croatia, France, Greece, Italy, Spain, but also in Libya and Turkey, human rights have been ruthlessly suspended for some time now. Abuse and violence have become the dominant feature of European governance in dealing with migration”, highlights the Stop Border Violence manifest.
The workshop is part of the Social Movements and Political Action Seminar Cycle and is organized by Guya Accornero (CIES-ISCTE) , Tiago Carvalho (CIES-Iscte) and Francesca Fortarezza (Scuola Normale Superiore-Florence), in partnership with BLX-Biliotecas de Lisboa. Also supporting this event are CIES – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, the Observatory of Democracy and Political Representation, the Foundation for Science and Technology and the civic initiative “Stop Border Violence”.
