Organized by the SocialDigital Lab of Iscte- Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, the Brown Bag Seminars on Social Data took place in May and June 2023, in six sessions, where six observatories associated to Iscte presented the social data collected by them and pointed out their usefulness for the analysis of public policies.
The Observatory of Democracy and Political Representation – with the participation of the observatory’s directors, André Freire and Guya Accornero, and the research fellows, Viriato Queiroga and Livino Neto – has demonstrated how the collection and processing of data on political elites and social movements allow the policy-maker to understand some of the main concerns present in society, providing the necessary information for the implementation of reforms reflecting and enabling the necessary mediation between voters and the elected for the improvement of representation.
