The Observatory for Democracy and Political Representation (ODRP) has begun contacts with the Portuguese Parliament and the National Electoral Commission (CNE), in addition to the CNPD (National Commission for Data Protection), to start the new “Survey on Candidates for Representatives in the 2022 Legislative Elections (elected and non-elected)”, the sixth edition of the study.

This project is associated with the international research networks Comparative Candidate Survey (see: http://www.comparativecandidates.org/ ) and Elites Parlamentarias de América Latina (see: http://americo.usal.es/oir/elites/bases_de_datos.htm), allowing an exhaustive and comparative analysis of the function of political representation in different European and Latin American countries.

The set of editions includes the legislative electoral contests of 2005, 2009, 2011, 2015 and 2019, providing substantial data for research on political representation in Portugal and the longitudinal study of these matters, as well as the effect of the crises that took place during this period.
