Researching Social Movements: Methodological, Ethical, and Political Challenges
The Research Network on Social Movements of the Council for European Studies (CES) is holding the conference “Researching Social Movements: Methodological, Ethical, and Political Challenges” on July 1 and 2 in Lyon (FR), preceding the CES conference, which takes place on July 3-5 in the same city.
The Research Network conference will feature five panels on the following themes: “Issues with positionality”; “Calling into question the researcher/researched boundary”; “Doing risky business: advancing knowledge without endangering activists (or oneself)”; “Deconstructing social movements’ scholars categories of thought”; “The social movements’ scholar toolkit: tool-making and tool-selection.
In addition to Guya Accornero and Tiago Carvalho (CIES – Iscte) and Marco Allegra and Luisa Rossini (ICS-UL), the conference organizing committee includes Gabriele D’Adda (University of Catania), Motsserrat Emperador Badimon (Triangle, Université Lumière Lyon 2), Pierre Monforte (University of Leicester) and Lucia Valdivia (Centre Max Weber, Université Lumière Lyon 2).
