28th International Conference of Europeanists
Based at Iscte – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa and organized by the Council for European Studies (CES), the 28th International Conference of Europeanists will take place between June 29 and July 1, with the theme The Environment of Democracy.
After three years, CES will meet again in person at this conference, which will be the first to focus on environmental issues. The conference organization itself also sought a “greener” path for its fulfillment, reducing plastic and paper waste and opting for more sustainable models of food.
Among the innovations of the conference, this will be the first time that it will take place in a hybrid way, also including the online component, which takes place on June 20-22, which should allow for expanded access to researchers who cannot attend the conference. in person and contribute to the environmental sustainability of the event.
The event’s keynote speakers will address different aspects of the relationship between environmental sustainability and democracy in their panels: Daniela Gabor (Economics/Macrofinance Professor at the University of the West of England) will participate in the Green Gradualism and its Discontents roundtable; while Mike Hulme (professor of human geography at the University of Cambridge) will speak on the topic Is Climate Change Good for Democracy?
In addition to thematic panels, the conference will also feature sections for paper presentations.
