SUMMARY:Where does democracy live?
DESCRIPTION:The Monthly Seminar on “Social Movements and Political Action” marks its 10th anniversary on October 15, 2024, with an initiative dedicated to the theme “Where Does Democracy Live?”, also celebrating the 50th anniversary of democracy in Portugal.\nThis edition will pay tribute to Britta Baumgarten (1975-2018), co-founder of the seminar, whose work has created an important legacy for critical reflection on democracy and participation.\nOrganized collectively by the participants, the seminar features a programme with debates that explore the relationship between democracy and housing, focusing on how different forms of exclusion and participation have shaped politics and urban life over the last five decades.\nStarted in October 2014, the Seminar on Social Movements and Political Action has held more than 100 sessions to date. The seminar promotes multidisciplinary reflection on issues related to social movements and different forms of political action, militancy and activism.
